Williams v. Kincaid et al.
FOURTH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS - CLOSED NOV 2023
Ms. Williams was a transgender woman who was subjected to unlawful mistreatment when she was housed within a male prison facility for 6 months, subjected to extreme harassment by guards and inmates, and denied access to hormone treatment. On August 16, 2022, the Fourth Circuit issued a landmark ruling finding that gender dysphoria is not excluded from the definition of “disability” under the ADA, and remanded the case for further proceedings.
